China Southern YVR Guangzhou flights

China Southern Airlines will fly to Vancouver International Airport (YVR), offering Canada’s first and only nonstop flight to China’s most populous province, Guangdong. Beginning June 15, 2011, China Southern will begin its YVR service, offering three flights weekly to and from the province’s capital city of Guangzhou.

China Southern Airlines’ YVR service will use Boeing 777-200 aircraft, with capacity for 282 passengers. Flights will operate three times per week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, arriving at YVR at 10:20 AM and departing nonstop to Guangzhou at 12 noon.

The service to Guangzhou represents not only a new destination, but a new airline for YVR. This means more options for passengers, and greater opportunities for business and for tourism, particularly given Canada’s recent Approved Destination Status from China.
“With China as British Columbia’s second-largest trading partner, continuing to provide expanded air service to the country has been a key objective for Vancouver Airport Authority as we work to build YVR as a premier global gateway to the Asia-Pacific region,” said Larry Berg, President and Chief Executive Officer, Vancouver Airport Authority. “I commend China Southern on its choice to expand its international network to Canada, and to capitalize on the trade and travel opportunities available here in B.C.”
“This new route is great news for Canada’s Pacific Gateway and another clear indication that YVR is a world-class gateway for passengers and airfreight,” said Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Blair Lekstrom. “Government and industry partners have committed $22 billion to expand and enhance airport, port, road and rail infrastructure in the Pacific Gateway to meet those growing demands.”

British Columbia’s population has strong linkages to Guangdong as many new Canadians have roots in the Chinese province. Guangdong contributes approximately 12 per cent of China’s national economic output and is home to the production facilities and offices of a wide range of multinational and Chinese corporations. Currently, passengers travelling between Canada and Guangdong must route through Shanghai, Beijing or Hong Kong.

air india Amritsar london direct flights

air india fly two separate daily service to London and Toronto from Amritsar with a stopover in Delhi to augment international connectivity of the Holy City.

An Air India spokesman told The Tribune that the Amritsar-Delhi-London flight will take off at 0450 hours and reach London at 1130 local time while the Amritsar-Delhi-Toronto flight will take off at 2210 hours and reach Toronto at 0745 local time. Passengers will change over to Boeing 777 at the IGIA during the stopover of one and a half hours. Besides, there will also be two daily flights to the National Capital and back.

After withdrawing the non-stop Amritsar-London-Toronto flight, Air India has been flying Amritsar-Delhi-London-Toronto four times a week on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. However, the airline is not being able to completely utilise its capacity, with the London-Toronto stretch going half empty on most days.

Air India says that with the new schedule at Rajasansi, passengers will get daily connectivity to London and Toronto and also save on time. “Passengers will be issued boarding cards at Amritsar after security and immigration check. Their journey time will be reduced and they will also get to spend one and a half hours at Delhi, where they can use world-class facilities of T3,” the spokesman said.

According to the spokesman, a direct flight between Toronto and Amritsar meant passengers from other cities could not board that plane. With reports of the withdrawal of Amritsar-London-Toronto flight from October 31 and no further clarity on the issue, there was a great hue and cry, especially among the NRI community of Punjab. They recently wrote to Air India to revoke its decision. There were also representations to PM Manmohan Singh to talk to Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel. Some politicians had alleged that the move was meant to marginalise the Amritsar airport to develop other airports in Punjab.

Delhi Airport express line Metro stations

The Delhi Airport Express Metro line will have six stations : New Delhi, Shivaji stadium , Dhaula Kuan , Delhi Aerocity or NH8, IGI Airport and Dwarka sector 21. Dhaula Kuan and the NH8 stations , however , are not going to be opened any time soon . Said an official , "S ince there's little development along the NH8, we don't expect too many passengers from this station . Fire clearance however , has been taken for the station while the Dhaula Kuan station is still undergoing some civil work ."
Unlike any taxi service, your Metro ride to Indira Gandhi International airport will not pinch your pocket. The cost of the fastest mode of travel to the airport - Airport express line Metro - will be less than half of the previously announced fare. According to the new fare structure, the lowest fare will be R20. For the distance from New Delhi station to IGI airport, the cost will be R80.

The ride from the New Delhi metro station , located adjacent to the Ajmeri Gate side of the New Delhi Railway station , to the IGI airport will be completed in around 20 minutes at a speed of 105kmph . While the checked-in baggage will be sent via a separate channel , passengers will travel through a lounge to enter T3 of the IGI airport . The trains will be climate-controlled and will have specialized front facing seats as well as ample space for luggage.
Passengers can avail of the check-in facility at three stations - New Delhi, Shivaji and Dhaula Kuan . The first two will also do baggage check-in . However , with only Air India at present on board , check-in at the Metro stations is still being sorted out by DAMEPL. The 22km line will be traversed in minutes with the new Metro line , especially with two stations being out of commission at the moment . For passengers , the USP of the Airport Metro is the drop-down points at the New Delhi metro station as well as the multi-level parking that would be available later .

Transit passengers to enjoy Delhi airport T3 facilities

International transit passengers at the Delhi airport would soon be able to shop at duty free shops, enjoy a drink at the swanky Terminal 3 or head for a refreshing massage as they wait for their connecting flight. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) - the aviation sector's security regulator - has finally given an in-principle approval to a proposal from DIAL to allow transit passengers access to the airport lounge. DIAL (Delhi International Airport Ltd.) is the private-led consortium that runs the Delhi airport.

At present, transit passengers flying to the Delhi airport are not allowed to leave the transit lounge no matter how long the waiting time is for a connecting flight. "They remain in the lounge and all they have access to is a stall which serves tea and snacks," said a DIAL official on condition of anonymity.

DIAL had been pushing the proposal to allow passengers access to the lounge for a long time and had cited the example of airports across the world where the movement of transit passengers is not restricted.

"This move brings India in line with other rivals, most notably in the Middle East and the Far East, and if India aims to snare more international traffic through its hubs, it has to change the way it deals with and caters to its customers. This is definitely a step in the right direction for all parties," said Saj Ahmad, London-based aviation analyst from FBE Aerospace.

"Once the government clearance is obtained, we will start issuing transit passes," the official said.

"By allowing passengers to enjoy the terminal's facilities, the propensity for customers to spend will drive up revenue and expand new business opportunities inside the airport itself. Why there were restrictions on passengers who have already cleared security checks is not quite clear. However, the rule change will likely see more passengers use the terminal shops and other features while they wait for their flights," Ahmad said.

Singapore to Sao Paulo SQ68 direct flights

Marking a new chapter in Singapore Airlines’ history, flight SQ68 departed on its inaugural flight from Singapore Changi Airport to Sao Paulo’s Guarulhos International Airport.

Boeing 777-300ER aircraft will be used for the new services, featuring the Airline’s latest product offerings. These include a new First Class seat which converts into the largest full-flat bed in the sky, a 30-inch-wide Business Class seat, the widest in its class, and the unprecedented comfort and space offered by the all-new Economy Class seats.
Customers can also be entertained by more than 1000 on-demand options available on Singapore Airlines’ award-winning inflight entertainment system across all three classes.

The flight is expected to arrive in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo, via the Spanish city of Barcelona, at 1555hrs local time. On the return leg, flight SQ67 will depart Sao Paulo at 0145hrs and arrive in Singapore at 1335hrs the next day.

Sao Paulo is Singapore Airlines’ first destination in South America, which has become the sixth continent in its route network. The new three-times-weekly service also strengthens Singapore Changi Airport’s status as a global hub, as the Airline is the first to offer direct flights between Singapore and South America.
“We are pleased to add Sao Paulo to our growing network of destinations. With such high profile events as the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympic Games lined up in Brazil, we are confident that travel demand to Brazil will be strong. Similarly, we hope that Brazilians will take the opportunity to visit Singapore and use Changi Airport as a gateway to the Asia-Pacific region,” said Singapore Airlines’ Executive Vice-President Commercial, Mr Mak Swee Wah.
Customers interested in booking flights and viewing fares for flights to Sao Paulo should visit singaporeair.com.
